08 Senior Job Interview & Business

Ten Minutes:

A. Introduction

“Hi! This is teacher (name) from(Academy).”

“ I'm calling for the Level Test.”

“How are you today?” ...“Good to know that” / “ I hope you get well soon.”

“Is it a good time to talk?”

YES - “Great, This will only take a few minutes. Were you expecting my call?” “Good.”

NO - “Oh I understand. What time shall I call you back today? May I call you back tomorrow at (time)?”

B. Getting to know more about the Prospect


b.1 English Name - “Do you have an English Name?”

YES - “What is your English Name?”

NO – “Would you like an English Name?”

YES - “How about (name suggestions)?”. “ Good choice.”.

Be ready with at least 5 nice Female & Male Suggestions.

b.2 Age – Be careful and polite when you ask this question. Refrain from “ How old are you's”

“Can I ask your age? .”Your International age?”

Thank you. You sound so adorable/sweet.”

b.3 Occupation

“You say you are 38 (example)So I assumed you are already a professional?”

“Are you working?”

“ Wow, that is a very nice/cool job.” “Wow, that's Interesting.”


*** If the prospect was able to answer this part, It means that they

belong to the Middle Beginner Level.

*** If the prospect is unable to answer, He/she is quiet or shy,

DO NOT ask a question from another question.

Proceed to Closing and note the prospect as Low Beginner.

b.4 Reason for Studying English

“May I know if you tried Phone English before?”

“May I know if you've had Online English experience?”

“Good. I see.”

“Why do you want to study English?”

* High Beginner and Advanced

“I would like to know how you first became interested in learning English. “

“When did you start studying it?”

“Tell me about how you first learned this language and how you are learning it.”


C. Sample

“I'd like to ask you a few questions and it would be great if you can answer me

in complete sentences. Okay?” “Good” “Awesome.”


WARM UP QUESTION:

1.Your boss thinks you’re so great and decides to give you more work to do. Even if you’re busy, you can’t say “no”; how will you handle this situation?


2. Let’s say your boss asks you to make a very important report but at the same time asks you to buy him a cup of coffee. How will you handle this?


3. Your mother is sick and you have to take care of her, but your boss gave you an important task to complete as soon as possible. How will you deal with this?


4.You are doing a group project, but one group mate keeps contradicting/ interrupting you. How will you reach a common decision? What will you do?


5. One of your interviewer asked you: “What are your activities and interests outside of work?” what will you tell them?


1.You’re in a job interview, you were asked what makes you different with the other applicants and why should they hire you. What would you say?


2.You are working on many things all at the same time. How will you manage your time where you had to work towards a deadline.


3. In a panel interview: you were asked “Do you think you are over-qualified for this position?” what will you tell them?


4. You are being interviewed now by the company you have been wanting to work-in ever since. How will you respond if they ask you: “What parts of your education do you see as relevant to this position?”


5. If you are in your interview and they asked you to describe your best school/college years. How will you describe it in brief and concrete description/ explanation?


6. If you are in your interview and they asked you: “What will you do if we hire you and you don't end up liking the job? What will you do”... how will you explain to them?


1.Kurt just graduated from college. He applied for two different companies. He passed the interview in both company. Company ABC offered a higher compensation rate but is located in a farther location. Company XYZ is located nearer but offers a lower rate. If you were Kurt, which company would you choose? Why?


2. Mr. Kim is the head of the recruitment department. They are in need of a specialist for customer service. Two applicants applied and both are qualified for the position. The first applicant is more experienced but has attitude problem. The second applicant doesn’t have any work experience but possesses good attitude. If you’re Mr. Kim, which applicant would you select? Why?


3. John has just promoted as a manager in a Multinational Electronics company. He is tasked to attend a very important meeting. While in the meeting, John’s wife called him because an emergency occurred. If you were John, what would you do?


4. you are 6 in a panel interview: “You and 3 other applicants, and 2 Interviewers. When it was your turn, one of the interviewer asked you “What can you do to this company that these 3 other applicants cannot?” What will you tell them?


5. You are being interviewed now by the company you have been wanting to work-in ever since. When The interviewers start asking you too personal questions such as “Is your boyfriend/Girlfriend good looking?/ How much does your parents earn” how would you react?


D. Review

“You were great. Thanks for answering the questions.”

“There are a few things though you can improve on. Would you like to know?”

“Ok. Repeat after me. (mispronounced word)” “Good.” “ Great Job”

“ You can speak English (Well/Good/Very Well).” “Your level is ______.”

E. Closing

“ Did you enjoy/like the level test?” “ Awesome.”

“ Would you like the opportunity to improve/practice your English skill? Great!”

“ Our coordinator will be calling your parents then to make arrangements.”

“ Here at (Academy), we have a very unique and effective way of teaching English.”

“ We hope to hear from you soon so we can work on (reason for studying English).”

“And Thank you very much for taking time to do this Level Test with me.”

“Again, this is Teacher (name) from (Academy).

“ Have a great day!” “Bye!”
