When is the most important special day for you? A wedding anniversary? A birthday? All people have their own special days and want to celebrate them in a special way. People usually regard birthdays and wedding anniversaries as their most important special days. In particular, when a wedding anniversary approaches, Korean husbands are “forced” to entertain their wives with special gifts or trips to where the wives want to visit. Korean people also celebrate two traditional holidays: New Year’s Day and Chusuk ( the Korean version of Thanksgiving). Recently Christmas has become one of the most enjoyable days, even for non Christians. These holidays provide people with opportunities to get together.
These days a lot of parents throw a party in an expensive restaurant for their children’s birthday. They do this to show off their wealth, and because they are too lazy to prepare food and drinks at home. This might send the wrong signal to their children , who would naturally enough think that celebrating a special day requires money, and they might be disappointed if their birthday party is not more luxurious than theeir friends .
That is the worst thing parents can do in disciplining their children.
How do you celebrate New Year’s Day?
What was your New Year’s resolution this year?
How do you celebrate your birthday?
What do you usually prepare for your spouse as an anniversary gift?
What do you want to do for your next birthday?
What do you like to receive on your special days?
Do you think cash is an appropriate gift?
Do you think it’s ok throwing a luxurious party in an expensive restaurant for your children's birthday?
What do you usually prepare for your children’s birthday?
