Common mistakes Korean speakers make.
한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.

❌ "Do you like some more rice?"
✅ "Would you like some more rice?"

한국어에서는 "밥 좀 더 줄까?"처럼 권유할 때와 "밥 좋아해?"처럼 취향을 물을 때 모두 '좋아하다'를 사용합니다. 하지만 영어에서는 상대방에게 무언가를 권유하거나 제안할 때 반드시 "Would you like...?"를 사용해야 합니다. "Do you like...?"는 평소 취향을 묻는 표현이므로, 지금 무언가를 권하는 상황에서는 틀린 표현이 됩니다.

❌ "I like to have a cup of tea, please."
✅ "I'd like to have a cup of tea, please."

한국어로 "차 한 잔 주세요"라고 말할 때, 영어로 직역하면 "I like..."를 쓰기 쉽습니다. 하지만 "I like"는 '평소에 좋아한다'는 뜻이고, 지금 원하는 것을 정중하게 말할 때는 "I'd like" (= I would like)를 써야 합니다. 식당이나 카페에서 주문할 때 꼭 기억하세요!
