synonym A word that has the same or nearly the same meaning as another word. 동의어 "Start" and "begin" are synonyms.

similar Almost the same, but not exactly alike. 비슷한, 유사한 These two words have a similar meaning, but they are used in different situations.

meaning The idea or concept that a word represents. 의미, 뜻 Do you know the meaning of this word?

replace To use something new in place of something else. 대체하다, 바꾸다 You can replace "happy" with "glad" in this sentence.

passage A short section of writing or text. 지문, 글의 한 부분 Read the passage carefully and find the synonyms.

❌ "Big" and "large" are same meaning.

✅ "Big" and "large" have a similar meaning.

한국어에서는 "같은 뜻이다"라고 표현하지만, 영어에서 동의어는 완전히 똑같지 않고 미묘한 차이가 있는 경우가 많습니다. 따라서 "same meaning"보다 "similar meaning"이 더 정확한 표현입니다. 또한 "are same"이 아니라 "have a similar meaning"처럼 동사와 관사를 정확히 사용해야 합니다.
