DAY 2: DESCRIBE A PICTURE
1. The teacher will brainstorm or give the keywords that are related to the picture. (nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs)
2. The student will then create sentences using these keywords in present continuous form to describe the activities and objects in the picture.
3. Ask the student to think of a sentence that will introduce the photo. The teacher can suggest the following phrases that the student can use:
a. This is a picture of a..b. In this picture..c. What I can see in this picture..
4. Ask the student to describe the main character, supporting characters and additional objects in the photo using the keywords.

5. Ask the student to create sentences describing the placement or location of subject / objects. The following phrases could be used:

6. Create sentences using useful phrases to indicate you are making an intelligent guess when you are not 100% sure of who, what or where, that could best describe the scene . (what is happening, has happened or will happen) This can serve as the closing part of the answer. The following phrases can be used by the student:
He appears to bewriting a report. He looks like a doctor or a dentist maybe. It seems likethey are having a good time.

Model Answer:
STEP 1: TITLE OF THE PHOTO : This picture is an aerial view of a coastal village.
STEP 2: MAIN SUBJECT: On the upper right side of the photo, is the village. All the roofs on the buildings are orange, while the walls and building structures themselves appear to be made of grey stone, bricks or cement.
STEP 3: ADDITIONAL OBJECT/S:The village is surrounded by deep blue water. There are rows of boats docked near the village and on the left side of the photo there are couple of boats travelling nearby.
STEP 4: OVERALL REVIEW(CONCLUSION):This appears to be a fancy tourist resort or an ancient village with its traditional stone walls and buildings still intact.
TEST TECHNIQUES:
Brainstorm some relevant vocabulary and plan the introductory sentences (30 seconds)After your introduction, describe what you can see using adjectives, adverbs, and prepositions.Expand your answer to show your guess on the character's occupation and on the scenery.Use uncertain and speculative language when you are not 100% sure.Say as much as you can in the time allowed.

Korean Trap! / 한국인 실수 교정

Common mistakes Korean speakers make.
한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.

❌ There is a boats docked near the village.
✅ There are boats docked near the village.

한국어에는 영어처럼 단수/복수 구분이 명확하지 않아서, 사진 묘사 시 'There is'와 'There are'를 혼동하는 경우가 많습니다. 복수 명사(boats, buildings, walls 등) 앞에는 반드시 'There are'를 사용해야 합니다. 사진 속 사물의 개수를 먼저 파악한 뒤 알맞은 표현을 선택하세요.
