DAY 5: EXPRESS AN OPINION
SAMPLE QUESTION: Is a bully who harasses someone who then commits suicide a murderer, or does the sole responsibility lie with the victim who committed suicide?
1. The teacher will ask the student to determine what type the given question is.
A. Which do you prefer? B. Agree or disagreeC. What is your opinion?
2. Ask the student to choose what subject that is related to the question that he or she can answer easily.
3. The teacher can give an example of an introductory sentence. There are different ways in stating your opinion and the student would need to create sentences that would answer the question using the samples given.

Step 1 Begin your answer by rephrasing the question: I believe that people who bully or cyberbully others should be responsible for the death of the victim.
Step 2 Main Reason In the case of the mother who cyberbullied her daughter’s friend, I believe the mother was responsible for the death of the girl because she kept harassing the girl under false pretenses, and even suggested that the girl take her own life.
Step 3 Supporting Details: This shows extremely irresponsible behavior of a grown adult towards a young impressionable teenager.
Step 4 Additional: I think the mother was using her power and influence to mislead a young girl and the result was suicide committed by the girl.
Step 5 Re-state your stand and conclusion: To me this is murder because an impressionable girl was encouraged to do the unspeakable by an adult and I think and believe it should be the bully’s responsibility.
TEST TECHNIQUES:
To answer the question correctly you must first understand the task. Quickly read the question and summarize it into one single question.Decide on your answer and plan your supporting points (during the 15 sec preparation time).
