INTERJECTION
Interjections are words or phrases used to exclaim or protest or command. An interjection is a word added to a sentence to convey emotion. It is not grammatically related to any other part of the sentence.
You usually follow an interjection with an exclamation mark. Interjections are uncommon in formal academic prose.
The words in CAPITAL LETTERS are interjections:
OUCH! that hurt!
OH NO! I forgot that the exam was today.
HEY! Put that down!
I heard one guy says to another guy, "He has a new car, EH!"
OH NO! price of basic commodities are increasing!
WOW! I won the lottery!
AHAH! I don't know about that.
NO, you shouldn't have done that.
If the interjection is forceful, it is followed with an exclamation mark. Interjections are rarely used in formal or academic writing.
The following words and group of words are also used as Interjections:
Congratulations/Alas/Hello/Right/ At last/ thank you/oh god/ well done/ good gracious/ my oh my
