RECRUITERS AND EMPLOYMENT AGENCIES
Practice English with your teacher
Warm-up
Talk about these questions with your teacher.
- Have you ever used a recruiter or employment agency to find a job? What was the experience like?
- If a headhunter contacted you today, what key information would you want to share about yourself first?

If you earn $75,000+, recruiters and headhunters (also called executive search consultants) should be part of your job campaign.
You must sell yourself to recruiters the same way you sell yourself to employers. Like employment managers, they too are drowning in resumes. The best way to approach unknown recruiters is by mail. Search consultants are usually busy, and they often consider calls from job hunters a nuisance. A high-impact letter will get you in the door.
By reviewing your resume, the recruiter can see what you have done. The problem is to determine where you fit next. A well-structured letter will answer five key questions:
What two or three job titles would fit you now?
If you could design the job yourself, what duties and responsibilities would you choose?
Which companies and industries appeal to you? Which don't?
Where are you willing—or unwilling—to live?
What range of compensation are you seeking?
The example entitled "Broadcast Letter to Recruiters (CFO, VP Finance)" is one of my favorites. The first paragraphs explain your situation; then the numbered items address the recruiter's "need to know."
E-mail Your Resume to Executive Recruiters.
Korean Trap! /
Common mistakes Korean speakers make.
또한 "for getting"이 아니라 목적을 나타내는 "to help me find"로 표현해야 합니다.
