Warm-up

Talk about these questions with your teacher.
선생님과 이야기해 보세요.

  1. Have you ever sent a thank-you letter after a job interview? What did you write?
면접 후에 감사 편지를 보낸 적이 있나요? 어떤 내용을 썼나요?
  2. Do you think a handwritten thank-you note or a typed letter makes a better impression? Why?
손으로 쓴 감사 메모와 타이핑한 편지 중 어느 쪽이 더 좋은 인상을 준다고 생각하나요? 이유는 무엇인가요?

Reading

Read the passage with your teacher.
선생님과 함께 지문을 읽어보세요.

If your thoughts won't fit on a card, use a typewritten--not handwritten--letter. Letters must be professionally typewritten or word processed--no exceptions. Long, rambling, hard-to-read thank you notes create more frustration than good will.
A thank-you letter is often a sales letter in disguise, so don't be afraid to put some "sell" into it. Send warm thanks to everyone who gives you any kind of help in the job search, however small. No exceptions. No excuses

Korean Trap! / 한국인 실수 교정

Common mistakes Korean speakers make.
한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.

❌ I want to say thank you for your help.
✅ I would like to express my gratitude for your help.

한국어에서 "감사하다고 말하고 싶습니다"를 직역하면 "I want to say thank you"가 되지만, 비즈니스 감사 편지에서는 너무 캐주얼하게 들립니다. 격식 있는 표현인 "I would like to express my gratitude" 또는 "I would like to thank you"를 사용하는 것이 프로페셔널한 인상을 줍니다. 특히 면접 후 감사 편지에서는 격식 있는 표현이 필수입니다.
