한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.
❌ "What is your hobby?"
✅ "What do you like to do in your free time?"
한국어로는 "취미가 뭐예요?"라고 자연스럽게 묻지만, 영어에서 "What is your hobby?"는 면접처럼 딱딱하게 들립니다. 스몰토크에서는 좀 더 가볍고 자연스러운 표현인 "What do you like to do in your free time?"이나 "Do you have any plans for the weekend?"처럼 물어보는 것이 훨씬 자연스럽습니다. 스몰토크의 핵심은 편안하고 부담 없는 대화라는 점을 기억하세요.
