Are little pictures created form punctuation. Their purpose is to express emotion or intent for example: happiness, sadness, anger, or frustration, and thereby overcome the problem of the lack of face-to-face contact. They are more frequently used in personal e-mail and on bulletin board. Examples of emoticons:
