Actual Interview Tips
· Come on time.
· Build a good first impression by wearing proper attire, showing confidence, giving a firm handshake and a pleasant smile to the interviewer.
· Speak clearly. Be conversational. Don’t sound like you just memorized your piece and practiced a lot.
· Watch your diction and grammar.
· Use positive words like “I am”, “I would”, “I did”, “I worked” rather than “I think”, “I guess”, etc. Use verbs with active voice. Avoid using verbs with passive voice like “I was assigned, “I was appointed as…”, etc.
· Establish rapport by relating to the interviewer. Maintain eye contact.
· Project confidence and positive attitude
· Emphasize on your strengths and qualifications. Tell the interviewer exactly why they should hire you.
· Handle weaknesses or barriers
· Listen attentively. Do not interrupt while the interviewer is speaking.
· Sit comfortably
· Avoid mannerisms
· Use gestures that would not distract the interviewer
· Dispel their fears like the possibility of your inability to do the job, absence, tardiness, etc.
· End the interview with a strong statement about your qualifications
· Thank the interviewer, addressing him by name and leave him with a handshake.

Korean Trap! / 한국인 실수 교정

Common mistakes Korean speakers make.
한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.

❌ "I was assigned to lead the marketing team."
✅ "I led the marketing team and increased sales by 20%."

한국어는 "~에 배정되었다", "~로 임명되었다"처럼 수동 표현을 자주 사용하기 때문에, 영어 면접에서도 수동태(passive voice)를 그대로 쓰는 경우가 많습니다. 하지만 영어 면접에서는 능동태(active voice)를 사용해야 자신감 있고 주도적인 인상을 줄 수 있습니다. "I was appointed as…" 대신 "I served as…" 또는 "I managed…"처럼 내가 주체가 되는 표현을 사용하세요.
