한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.
한국어에서는 "이 그래프를 보시면"처럼 목적어를 직접 연결하지만, 영어에서 'see'는 그래프 자체를 보는 것이 아니라 그래프 안의 내용을 보는 것이므로 전치사 'in'이 필요합니다. 프레젠테이션에서 시각 자료를 가리킬 때 "As you can see in this chart/graph/diagram"으로 말해야 자연스럽습니다.
한국어의 "~에 대해 주목해 주세요"에서 '대해'의 영향으로 'about'을 쓰기 쉽지만, 영어에서는 반드시 'draw attention to'를 씁니다. 'attention'과 짝을 이루는 전치사는 'to'이며, 이것은 프레젠테이션에서 청중의 시선을 특정 시각 자료로 유도할 때 매우 자주 쓰는 핵심 표현입니다.
