Korean Trap! / 한국인 실수 교정

Common mistakes Korean speakers make.
한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.

❌ She contributed to society very much.
✅ She made a great contribution to society. / She contributed significantly to society.

'very much'는 동사 수식에 쓰이지만 'contributed'와 함께 쓸 때는 'significantly' 또는 'greatly'가 더 자연스럽습니다. 명사형 'made a great contribution'도 좋습니다.

Discussion

Share your thoughts with your teacher.
선생님과 의견을 나눠보세요.

  1. Mother Teresa was called "The Saint of the Gutters." Does working with the poorest of the poor require sainthood, or should it be a normal civic responsibility?
  2. Audrey Hepburn transitioned from Hollywood star to UNICEF ambassador. How effective are celebrities at "calling attention" to global issues compared to journalists or scientists?
  3. Princess Diana used her fame to focus on AIDS and land mines. How does the "power of celebrity" differ from the "power of government" when addressing global problems?
  4. All three women died relatively young. Does premature death affect how we remember public figures? Would their legacies be as strong if they had lived longer?
  5. Who is a contemporary figure -- Korean or international -- that you think is making a comparable difference in the world?
