The Consumer Federation of America and the Credit Union National Association suggest the following tips to avoid getting deep in debt during the holidays:
Budget Holiday Spending: Before you start shopping, decide how much you can afford to spend and stay within that budget.
Make A List: Staying within this budget will be much easier if you make a price list of all gifts and other holiday items you plan to purchase. It's easy to overlook extra expenses for holiday foods, party clothes, holiday decor and postage.
Comparison Shop: You can easily save more than 10 percent on most items, sometimes considerably more, by comparing prices at different stores.
Pay Off Debts As Quickly As Possible: If you must make holiday purchases using credit, early next year pay off this debt as soon as possible. Remember that credit card debt is relatively expensive.
Plan For Next Year: While Christmas Club accounts do not pay much interest, they provide a practical way to save small amounts over time.
Holiday - legal day off: a day set aside by law or statute as exempt from regular labor or business activities, usually to celebrate or commemorate something that happened on or near that date; a public holiday
Vacation - break from work: a period of time devoted to rest, travel, or recreation
Celebrate- mark occasion; to mark a special occasion or day by ceremonies or festivities
Festivity - celebration: a celebration, feast, or party, enjoyment or merry making typical of a celebration
Outing - excursion: a short pleasure trip usually lasting no more than a day
Present/gift- something that is given to somebody out of kindness or to celebrate an occasion such as a birthday
Field Day - Fairs and circuses used to always set up in fields. Whenever these events came to town it was a special time. Thus, it has come to mean an enjoyable or especial time.
be on the road- be traveling.
"You won't be able to contact me tomorrow because I'll be on the road."
Time flies when you're having fun- something that you say which means that time passes quickly when you are enjoying yourself.

Korean Trap! / 한국인 실수 교정

Common mistakes Korean speakers make.
한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.

❌ "I will go to trip during the holiday."
✅ "I will go on a trip during the holidays."

한국어에서는 '여행을 가다'라고 하지만, 영어에서는 'go to trip'이 아니라 반드시 'go on a trip'이라고 표현해야 합니다. 또한 'holiday'는 특정 공휴일 하나를 가리킬 때 단수로, 연휴나 휴가 기간 전체를 말할 때는 'holidays'로 복수형을 사용합니다. 예를 들어 "What are your plans for the holidays?"처럼 쓰는 것이 자연스럽습니다.
