Reading

Read the passage with your teacher.
선생님과 함께 지문을 읽어보세요.

Here is a thought that can bring freshness in your relationship. Tell your partner why you love them. Yes, tell them about all the good qualities they have. Tell them everyday about why they are so lovely. Do you think that they know about why you love them? Ask them and you may be in for a surprise.
If you make your partner feel good, you will feel good. And the appreciation that you will get from your partner will be the icing on the cake. Most of you focus on what is going wrong. Why not shift the focus to - what is going right? No two individuals are ever similar. No two individuals will have a life without any strife. Why not reduce unhappiness and bring in cheer? Be very liberal with your praise. Be very stingy with blames and criticism.

Korean Trap! / 한국인 실수 교정

Common mistakes Korean speakers make.
한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.

❌ "I married with him in 2020."
✅ "I married him in 2020." / "I got married to him in 2020."

한국어에서는 '그와 결혼했다'처럼 '~와'를 사용하기 때문에 영어에서도 'with'를 넣는 실수를 합니다. 영어에서 'marry'는 타동사이므로 전치사 없이 바로 목적어가 옵니다. 또는 'get married to + 사람' 형태를 사용하세요. 'married with'는 절대 사람 앞에 쓰지 않습니다.

❌ "I am loving you so much."
✅ "I love you so much."

'Love'는 감정을 나타내는 상태 동사(stative verb)이기 때문에 일반적으로 진행형(-ing)을 쓰지 않습니다. 한국어로는 '사랑하고 있어'라고 자연스럽게 말하지만, 영어에서는 현재 시제 'I love you'가 올바른 표현입니다. 진행형을 쓰면 어색하고 문법적으로 틀린 문장이 됩니다.

❌ "He confessed to me yesterday." (meaning: He told me he likes me)
✅ "He asked me out yesterday." / "He told me he has feelings for me."

한국어의 '고백하다'를 그대로 번역해 'confess'를 사용하는 경우가 많습니다. 하지만 영어에서 'confess'는 주로 죄나 잘못을 고백할 때 쓰는 단어입니다. 좋아하는 감정을 표현할 때는 'ask someone out', 'tell someone you have feelings for them' 등이 자연스럽습니다.
