subsidiary A company that is owned or controlled by a larger parent company 자회사 Samsung Electronics is the most well-known subsidiary of the Samsung Group.
board of directors A group of people elected to oversee and make major decisions for a company 이사회 The board of directors approved the plan to expand into the European market next year.
department A division within a company responsible for a specific area of work 부서 She was transferred from the marketing department to the human resources department last month.
shareholder A person or organization that owns shares (stock) in a company 주주 The shareholders voted against the proposed merger at the annual meeting.
restructure To organize a company or system in a new and different way to make it operate more effectively 구조조정하다 The CEO decided to restructure the company by combining three divisions into one.

한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.

❌ I work in the headquarters department of the company.
✅ I work at the company's headquarters.

한국어에서 '본사부서'라고 표현하는 것처럼 headquarters 뒤에 department를 붙이는 경우가 많습니다. 하지만 영어에서 headquarters는 그 자체로 '본사/본부'를 의미하는 완전한 단어이므로 department를 추가할 필요가 없습니다. 또한 장소를 나타내므로 전치사 at을 사용합니다.
