cut corners To do something in the cheapest or easiest way, often sacrificing quality 비용이나 노력을 줄이다, 대충 처리하다 "The construction company cut corners on materials, and now the building has serious problems."
go the extra mile To make more effort than is expected or required 기대 이상으로 노력하다, 한 발 더 나아가다 "She always goes the extra mile for her clients, which is why they keep coming back."

한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.

❌ "We need to cut the cost to stay competitive."
✅ "We need to cut costs to stay competitive."

한국어에서는 '비용을 절감하다'라고 단수로 표현하기 때문에 영어에서도 "cut the cost"라고 직역하는 경우가 많습니다. 하지만 비즈니스 영어에서는 일반적인 비용 절감을 말할 때 관사 없이 복수형 "cut costs"를 사용합니다. "Cut the cost"는 특정한 하나의 비용을 가리킬 때만 쓰입니다.
