한국어에서는 "광고하다"를 명사 "광고(advertisement)"로 직역해서 동사 자리에 명사를 넣는 실수를 자주 합니다. 영어에서는 동사가 필요한 자리에 반드시 동사형 advertise를 사용해야 합니다. 명사 advertisement는 "We placed an advertisement in the newspaper"처럼 목적어나 주어 자리에 씁니다.
