한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.
❌ "We need to quit while we are ahead this project before it loses more money."
✅ "We need to quit while we're ahead — this project has already earned us a good profit."
한국어에서 '적당할 때 그만두다'라는 표현과 비슷하지만, 'quit while you're ahead'는 상황이 좋을 때 더 욕심부리지 않고 멈추라는 뜻입니다. 손해를 보고 있을 때 그만두자는 의미가 아니라, 이익을 보고 있는 좋은 상황에서 멈추자는 뜻이므로 부정적인 상황에서 사용하면 안 됩니다. 'Cut our losses'와 혼동하지 마세요.
