Maria always says she has one of the world’s best jobs. She works for the National Park Service at the Statue of Liberty in New York City. “People come here from all over the world,” Maria says. “Helping them learn about ‘Lady Liberty’ is really exciting.”
Maria begins her day just like on of the visitors. She takes a fifteen-minute boat ride to Liberty Island, where the statue stands. Then she helps visitors see the exhibits in the museum. The museum is inside the famous statue. Maria often talks with visitors as they climb to the statue’s crown. “It’s fun to talk with all these people,” she says. “Besides, it gives me my exercise. There are 154 steps on the way to that crown!”
