Your grandfather had to walk five miles in the snow to get to school. Your mother had to walk three miles in a thunderstorm to get to school. You have to walk six blocks in 90-degree heat to the school bus stop. Sorry, but that’s nothing.
Rick Hansen of Canada wheeled his wheelchair 24,901.55 miles. He crossed 34 countries and four continents. It took him over two years. George Meegan of Great Britain walked from the southern tip of South America to Prudhoe Bay in Alaska. That’s 19, 019 miles and 2,426 days. Plennie Wingo walked backwards from Santa Monica, California, to Istanbul, Turkey ? over 8,000 miles. Each of these people faced a huge challenge.
