When we use ‘as’ with the situation (not an action), the meaning is usually ‘because’:

As they live near us, we see them quite often. (= because they live near us)
Compare ‘while’ or ‘when’:
The bell rang while (or when) I was asleep. (not as I was asleep)
They got married when (or while) they were living in London. (not as they were living)

Korean Trap! /

Common mistakes Korean speakers make.

❌ As I got home, I took a bath.
✅ When I got home, I took a bath.
