Korean Trap! / 한국인 실수 교정

Common mistakes Korean speakers make.

❌ I was born in 1990, at March, on spring. 저는 1990년, 3월, 봄에 태어났어요.
✅ I was born in 1990, in March, in spring. 저는 1990년, 3월, 봄에 태어났어요.

한국어에서는 "~에"만 쓰면 되지만, 영어에서는 시간 전치사가 다릅니다: "at" = 시각(at 8 o'clock), "on" = 요일/날짜(on Monday, on April 25), "in" = 월/연도/계절(in March, in 1990, in spring).

Discussion

Share your thoughts with your teacher.
선생님과 의견을 나눠보세요.

  1. When do we use "at", "on", and "in" for time? Can you give one example for each?
시간에 "at", "on", "in"은 각각 언제 사용하나요? 하나씩 예를 들어보세요.
  2. The lesson says we do NOT use at/on/in before "next", "last", "this", "every". Why do we say "next Monday" and not "on next Monday"?
수업에서 "next", "last", "this", "every" 앞에 전치사를 쓰지 않는다고 합니다. 왜 "on next Monday"가 아니라 "next Monday"인가요?
  3. What are you going to do this weekend? Use time prepositions in your answer.
이번 주말에 무엇을 할 건가요? 시간 전치사를 사용해서 대답하세요.
