Common mistakes Korean speakers make.
한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.
한국어로 '떠보다' 또는 '은근히 원하다'를 영어로 옮길 때, 단순히 "fishing"이라고 하거나 전치사 "for"를 빠뜨리는 경우가 많습니다. 영어에서는 반드시 angling for라는 완전한 표현을 써야 '넌지시 무언가를 얻으려 하다'라는 의미가 됩니다. "Fishing for compliments"처럼 fishing을 쓰는 표현도 있지만, 비즈니스 맥락에서 초대나 승진 등을 노리는 뉘앙스에는 "angling for"가 더 자연스럽습니다.
