III. Procedure:
a. The teacher will ask the student to read the passage on page 52.
b. The teacher will take note of all the lapses in terms of pronunciation, intonation and stress and pausing.
c. Correct the student and ask the student to read the passage again and this time the teacher will time the student.
Passage: I am very excited to introduce this next person. / This is a person who makes me very proud. / You see, I knew him when he was just a kid, / not unlike all of you. / He was a remarkable young fellow who knew how to win everyone over with his smile. / I know this because I was his teacher many years ago. / And, he has now grown up to become the mayor of this fine metropolis. / He has now returned to his alma mater / and he is here to address all of you. / A great big hand for Larry Wright!

Common mistakes Korean speakers make when reading aloud.
소리 내어 읽을 때 한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.
한국어는 각 음절의 길이와 세기가 비교적 균일하지만, 영어는 강세(stress) 음절이 훨씬 길고 크게 발음됩니다. TOEIC Speaking Part 1에서 information, advertisement, opportunity 같은 다음절 단어를 읽을 때 강세 위치를 무시하면 감점 요인이 됩니다. 읽기 전에 긴 단어의 강세 위치를 미리 파악하는 습관을 들이세요.
