III. Procedure:
a. The teacher will ask the student to read the passage on page 51.
b. The teacher will take note of all the lapses in terms of pronunciation, intonation and stress and pausing.
c. Correct the student and ask the student to read the passage again and this time the teacher will time the student.
Passage: Ladies and gentlemen, / the captain has turned on the fasten seatbelt sign. / If you have not already done so, / please stow your carry-on luggage underneath the seat in front of you / or in the overhead bin. / Please take your seat and fasten your seat belt. / And, also make sure your seat is back / and the folding trays are in their full upright position. / At this time, / we request all electronic equipment , /including cellular phones and laptops, / be turned off / until we reach cruising altitude / as they may interfere with the navigational / and communicationequipment on this aircraft.

Common mistakes Korean speakers make when reading aloud.
영어 지문을 소리 내어 읽을 때 한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.

❌ "The event will be held on Chune fifteenth."
✅ "The event will be held on June fifteenth."

한국어에는 /dʒ/ 발음이 없기 때문에 'June'을 'Chune'처럼 /tʃ/로 발음하는 경우가 많습니다. TOEIC Speaking Part 1에서는 발음의 정확성이 채점 기준에 포함되므로, /dʒ/ 소리를 낼 때 혀끝을 입천장에 가볍게 대고 성대를 울려 주세요. 'job', 'general', 'adjust' 등의 단어에서도 같은 실수가 나타나니 함께 연습해 봅시다.
