I. Subject Matter: TOEIC Speaking Part 2 : Describe a picture
II. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the student will be able to:practice answering the said task by using the steps
III. Procedure:a. Create introductory sentence that answers WH-question for the picture. Overview of the picture. PRACTICE MAKING SENTENCES USING THESE PHRASES FOR THE INTRODUCTION PART:
EX.This is a picture..... In this picture... What I can see in this picture...
b. Locate the main subject of the photo. Create sentences regarding the main subject. (location, feature, action). The main characters are mostly in the middle.
c. Look at the remaining details in the photo. Create sentences regarding the remaining details. Don’t forget to use transitional words and phrases to show cohesion.
d. CREATE SENTENCES DESCRIBING THE PLACEMENT OR LOCATION OF SUBJECT OR OBJECT. YOU CAN USE THE FOLLOWING PHRASES:
EX: On the left part/side of the picture On the right part/side of the picture In the foreground of the picture In the background of the picture On either side of the picture At the left of the picture On the right-hand side of the picture At the bottom right of the picture At the top left of the picture In the middle
e. Give extra information about the picture: What is happening, has happened or will happen.
f. CLOSING PART: CREATE SENTENCES USING USEFUL PHRASES TO INDICATE YOU ARE MAKING AN INTELLIGENT GUESS WHEN YOU ARE NOT 100% SURE OF WHO, WHAT OR WHERE.
e.g. He appears to bewriting a report. He looks like a doctor or a dentist maybe. It seems likethey are having a good time.
g. Discuss the sample answers on PAGE 5 from level a to level a++ and discuss the difference.

INTRODUCTION :This is a picture of a man pitching a yellow tent in the snow.
MAIN CHARACTER: He is wearing a camouflaged snowsuit and a winter hat. Under his snow suit, you can see a beige sweater. And, on his feet, he has snow boots.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: In the background, you can see snow-filled pine trees. In the foreground, you can see a dog standing in the snow. I think the man is quite adventurous to camp in the snow.
h. Discuss the test techniques:Brainstorm some relevant vocabulary and plan the introductory sentences (30 seconds)After your introduction, describe what you can see using adjectives, adverbs, and prepositions.Expand your answer to show your guess on the character's occupation and on the scenery.Use uncertain and speculative language when you are not 100% sure.Say as much as you can in the time allowed.

Common mistakes Korean speakers make.
한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.

❌ In the left side of the picture, there is a man standing.
✅ On the left side of the picture, there is a man standing.

위치를 설명할 때 한국어로는 "~의 왼쪽에"라고 표현하기 때문에 전치사 'in'을 쓰기 쉽습니다. 하지만 사진의 특정 영역을 가리킬 때는 'on the left/right side of'가 올바른 표현입니다. TOEIC Speaking에서 사물의 위치를 묘사할 때 'on'을 사용하는 것을 꼭 기억하세요.
