Warm-up

Talk about these questions with your teacher.

  1. Have you ever had a really busy period at work or school where everything piled up at the last minute? What was it like?
  2. Do you prefer to finish tasks early or do you tend to wait until the deadline is close? Why?

A: My Gosh, the work just keeps coming, doesn't it?
B: Tell me about it. It's always like this at the end of the quarter though. Lots of projects getting to finishing touches put on them, a coming stuff that has to be attended to, lots of things with deadline pressure.
A: Yeah, I know what you are saying. It just seems like some of these work could be done better and were efficiently if people worked on it a little earlier, instead of waiting until the last second.
B: You've got a point but something's never changed. I've been here for ten years and it never ceases to amaze me. For a day or two before the end of each quarter, it's always nuts and just before the end of the fourth quarter; it's an absolute madhouse
A: I'm glad I haven't had to go through that yet. Oh, you'll get your chance.
B: Right now though, there's nothing we can do except take whatever is thrown at us and try to get it off our plates as soon as possible.
A: No kidding. Well, time to get our noses to the grime stone I suppose. Have fun today!

Korean Trap! /

Common mistakes Korean speakers make.

❌ I haven't had to go through that already.
✅ I haven't had to go through that yet.
