Guest : Actually, I have a problem...
Hotel Clerk : What is it?

Can you help me with this?
Hotel Clerk : Certainly. I can help you with that. Can I have your room number first?
Guest : Room 1505.
Hotel Clerk : Ok. Here’s your replacement key. I just deactivated the old key so you don’t have to worry about somebody getting a hold of that lost key.
Guest : Oh that’s great! Thank you.
Hotel Clerk : No problem! However, we will be charging you $10 for this replacement. But if ever we will retrieve the lost key, we will reimburse the charge.
Guest : Ok. I have no problem with that. Just make sure the old key is deactivated.

Korean Trap! /

Common mistakes Korean speakers make.

❌ "I lost my key. Can you change it?"
✅ "I lost my key. Can I get a replacement?"

❌ "I will give you for the charge."
✅ "I will pay for the charge."

❌ "Please deactivate the key so nobody uses it."
✅ "Please make sure the old key is deactivated so nobody can get a hold of it."

한국 학생들은 '아무도 못 쓰게'를 단순히 "nobody uses it"으로 표현하지만, 호텔 상황에서는 "get a hold of"(손에 넣다, 획득하다)라는 표현이 더 자연스럽습니다.
