Customs Officer: Good morning, sir.
Traveler: Good morning.
Customs Officer: Do you have anything to declare?
Traveler: Yes. I bought one gold ring and a DVD player.
Customs Officer: Please open your suitcase. How much did this cost?
Traveler: It cost $530.
Customs Officer: Where did you buy these? Do you have the receipts?
Traveler: I bought that in Seattle when I stayed there for a week.
Yeah, I have all the receipts of these Items.
Customs Officer: You have to pay a 10% duty sir.
Traveler: Well, no problem. Can you give me the total value of the goods?
Customs officer: Okay, sir. I’ll be back in a moment.
Traveler: No problem, I’ll just wait for you here.

Common mistakes Korean speakers make.
한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.

❌ "Do you have something to declare?"
✅ "Do you have anything to declare?"

한국어로는 '신고할 것이 있으신가요?'라고 할 때 '무언가(something)'와 '아무것(anything)'의 구분이 없습니다. 하지만 영어에서는 질문이나 부정문에서 "something" 대신 "anything"을 사용하는 것이 자연스럽습니다. 세관에서 "Do you have anything to declare?"가 올바른 표현이니 꼭 기억하세요.
