Unit 3-4 / Part 2
When applying for admission to a school or for a job, the officials often
become interested when the applicant has had quite a bit of experience in
foreign countries. The officials believe if the applicant has succeeded in
adjusting to new environments, in overcoming challenges, and also in
learning different cultures, he/she would be able to overcome difficulties
when invited to settle in their company/school. Perhaps the diversity in the
working and traveling history of a person can tell the officials how well-
rounded the person may be.

Korean Trap! /

Common mistakes Korean speakers make.

❌ When I applied a job, the official became interested in my experience.
✅ When I applied for a job, the official became interested in my experience.

❌ I have quite experience in foreign countries.
✅ I have quite a bit of experience in foreign countries.

Experience는 불가산 명사이므로 양을 표현할 때 quite a bit of 또는 a lot of를 사용해야 합니다.

❌ If you come across a conflict, try to escape it.
✅ If you come across a conflict, try to escape from it.
