In Korea and other East Asian countries, turtles are considered to be a
symbol of longevity and therefore are commonly found as household pets.
In the early 90's, illegal imports and uncontrolled breeding of red ear sliders
(a type of pet turtles) were getting out of control and the ecosystem was
becoming at risk. The government then decided to capture these excessive
numbers of turtles and to kill them.

한국어에서 '필요'는 단수로 쓰이지만, 영어에서 "meet one's needs"는 거의 항상 복수형 needs를 사용합니다. 단수 "need"는 "There is no need to~" 같은 다른 구문에서 쓰이므로, "meet + needs(복수)"를 하나의 덩어리로 기억하세요. 또한 한국어의 '충족시키다'를 무조건 "meet"로 번역하려 하지 말고, 문맥에 따라 "pose(제기하다)", "address(해결하다)" 등 적절한 동사를 선택하는 것이 중요합니다.
