가정법 과거완료의 기본적인 형태는 'If +주어+ had +과거분사 ~, 주어 +would/should/could/might + have +과거분사 ' 이다 . ' 만약 ... 했다면 ~ 했을 것이다 , ~ 했을 텐데 ' 라는 뜻으로 지나간 일에 대한 후회를 나타내며 과거 사실에 반대되는 일을 가정한다 . If 절을 생략하고 쓰는 경우도 많이 있다 .

work, and weekends are usually spent catching up on sleep. Sometimes, a
little bit of this precious weekend time is spent with family and friends.
Finding quality time with friends and family seems to be becoming
increasingly difficult for the general working population.

한국인이 자주 하는 실수를 알아봅시다.
한국어로 '말하지 말았어야 했다'를 영어로 옮길 때, 'have + 과거분사'를 빠뜨리는 실수를 많이 합니다. 과거에 하지 말았어야 할 일을 표현할 때는 반드시 shouldn't have + 과거분사 형태를 사용해야 합니다. 'should not said'는 문법적으로 틀린 표현이니 주의하세요.
